ICLAS Laboratory Animal Science Training Fellowship Awards in Europe
The ICLAS European Regional Committee announces three training fellowship awards available to individuals from European countries/areas in the process of developing modern standards of animal care and use. The objective is to acquire new knowledge and/or technical competencies in the care and use of laboratory animals, to be achieved in a host institution proposed by ICLAS, or an institution proposed by the applicant. Fellowships can be awarded at three levels: Technician level; Animal facility manager/animal welfare officer/veterinarian level; and Animal user scientist level. Each award covers costs of transportation, lodging, food, and incidental expenses, not to exceed €3.000. The deadline for submission of applications is May 1, 2019. For additional information about

ICLAS also invites institutions to participate in this program in 2019 and beyond. The institution would host one of the awardees during a period of 2 to 3 weeks, and help him/her to reach the training and experience objectives. ICLAS Americas Regional Committee Travel Award 2019
The ICLAS Americas Regional Committee announces three Travel Fellowship Awards to attend the 70th American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) National Meeting in Denver, Colorado, USA, October 13 – October 17, 2019. The awards are sponsored by PMI Nutrition International, LLC-LabDiet®, Charles River’s Commitment to Humane Animal Research Through Excellence and Responsibility (CHARTER) Program, and Lab Products, Inc. One award is available to an individual from a member country of the Central American, Caribbean and Mexican Laboratory Animal Science Association (ACCMAL -Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Honduras). One award is available to an individual from member countries of the Federation of South American Societies and Associations of Laboratory Animal Science Specialists (FESSACAL - Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, and Venezuela). One award goes to the best remaining candidate from all applicants, regardless of country. Each award covers travel, hotel, and meeting registration. The deadline for applications is May 1, 2019. The ICLAS General Assembly will be held June 9-10, 2019 in Prague, Czech Republic, just prior to the Federation of European Laboratory Animal Associations (FELASA) congress, June 10-13. Election of a new ICLAS Governing Board will take place at this General Assembly. A separate announcement regarding candidates for the elections and voting procedures was sent in early February to all ICLAS members in good standing. 
The General Assembly will be held at the Prague Congress Centre, the same site at which the FELASA events are held. Information about the FELASA Congress may be found HERE

International Workshop on Animals Models and Preclinical Research (ANIMOD 2019)
May 5-9, 2019 in Varadero, Cuba
The Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of Havana (CIGB), the Cuban Society of Pharmacology, the National Center for the Production of Laboratory Animals (CENPALAB) offer the workshop to promote knowledge and application of animal welfare and the 3Rs, stimulating a Culture of Care in the process of development and use of animal models. The workshop will also promote scientific and regulatory advances in the preclinical phase of biopharmaceutical product development. Meeting languages are Spanish and English. 11th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences 2020
The congress will be held at the MECC Maastricht in the Netherlands from August 23-27, 2020. The congress will explore the latest in 3Rs research and development and will provide a multidisciplinary program covering more traditional themes as well as very latest issues and novel developments in the field of alternatives to animal testing in the life sciences.
